Inspirational Books Which Changed My Life

Reading makes an impact on our thinking and observing the things that changes the way of our life. I have read so many books. These books have not only influenced me, but activated a lot of positive differences in my life. Some of these books uncovered philosophies, motivate spirituality and could be beneficial to your personal and career growth.

‘Mrityunjaya’ by Shivaji Sawant

Shivaji Sawant’s Mrityunjaya is an outstanding Marathi novel, based as autobiography of Karna of the Mahabharata characters. It is a legendary masterpiece in which the man’s endless journey and remarkable exploration of the human soul is explained. In Mrityunjaya, six dramatic speeches to form the nine chapters give epic dimensions. These are himself Karna (four times), his unwed mother Kunti (one), Duryodhana as his backbone (one), Shon (Shatruntapa) his brother (one), his wife Vrishali (one) to whom he is like a god, and last of all is Krishna (one), the Mahanayak of Mahabharata. The novel shows astrange similarity between Krishna and Karna and hints at a magical link between them. In this Karna hasleading role with a morethanhuman characteristic to offset the unheroic and entirelyattractiveMahabharata characters.

‘Shrimanyogi’ by Ranjit Desai

Shrimanyogi is a historical novel based on the life and the achievements of the great Maratha king, Chatrapathi Shivaji Maharaj. Chatrapathi Shivaji Maharaja was one of the major inspirations on the revival of nationalism and Hindu culture during a period. Chatrapathi Shivaji Maharaja was a man who built anempire starting from nothing. His battles were mostly with Muslim rulers, but he never showed any dislike towards the Muslim populations of his kingdom. Chatrapathi Shivaji Maharaja was a dynamic leader, a warrior, great strategist, good administrator and a visionary man. He dreamed the building of Hindu kingdom in a region that was surrounded by Muslim empires.He suffered many defeats too, but he never gave up his vision, and ultimately, he did succeed in making his dream a reality.  This book gives a sense of involvement to the reader.

‘Yugandhar’ by Shivaji Sawant

It is another master piece by Shivaji Sawant. Yugandhar is the best Marathi novel, based as autobiography of Krishna, the Mahanayak of Mahabharata. It gives changed view to look at the life of Krishna….. NOT as a HERO or GOD but as a HUMAN. Krishna lived through spreading PREMYOG for entire life. Yugandhar begins with the end, and then in a flashback, it tells the story of Sri Krishna through different persons in his life, including himself. The book is split into chapters, each chapter being narrated by important individuals in his life. Himself as first person and persons close to him are Rukmini, Daruk,Arjun, Draupadi, Satyaki and at last Uddhav. While Krishna describes his childhood in Gokul and his days in Mathura and Sandipini Ashram in Avanti, others tell the story of the rest of his life. Rukmini tells the story of her marriage to Krishna and the building of Dwarka near the western coast of India. Daruk, the Charioteer tells the story of his wanderings and various wars he fought. Draupadi, his friend and sister tells the story as he appears in the life of Pandavas, Hastinapur and Indraprastha. Satyaki, his commander in chief talks about the wars fought and strategies laid.Arjun talks about his friendship, devotion and of course the war where he received the famous lessons on Dharma. In the end, Uddhav, his cousin and the most the intimate friend talks about Krishna like a true devotee, as someone who has lived like his shadow. He is also the one who was with him till last minute. This books tells journey of becoming ShriKrishna from Krishna. The best message from book is keep doing our Karma and leave the result on the almighty power.
