The world around us is the phenomenal world or physical world of matter, space forces and energy. And the technology that we all study and acquire in engg is related to this phenomenal world. But according to Vedas there is another world where these technologies cannot reach. This world is relevant to all of us and this is the world within us. World is of our own mind. We experience this world in our dreams when we sleep. In dreams we experience the world within us.

The technology which we learn in engg helps us to harness the forces of external nature and we utilize it for the comforts of human body. However the experience of fulfillment, happiness and satisfaction is not dependent upon the external objects, but the state of our own mind. Mind is so powerful that seating in heaven it can experience us hell and, and seating in hell it can experience us heaven.Technology makes the objects of the happiness available to us. But the experience of the happiness will come from the mind.

Our ancient scriptures say that there aretwo technologies, one technology is related to the phenomenal world outside and other technology is related to our own internal world. These two technologies are not contradictory to each other. Infact both the technologies are essential for the human development.

While western world has focused more on external world, understanding it and developing technologies to harness it, eastern world has inclined towards inner world and its technologies or spiritual technology. Spiritual scientists (to whom we call rishi) tell us that the mind is the subtle machine inside us which is constantly generating thoughts and desires. Intellect is the faculty of discrimination that is fitted inside us. Mind creates desires and intellect makes decisions. Intellect has the ability to control the mind. Sometimes it does not seem so. But we have to exercise the power of intellect over the mind. Many times we see that students during last hour’s lectures or practical don’t seat quietly and don’t focus on learning as much they do in early hours of the day. But during university examination they seat for three hours continuously focusing on writing the paper. Sometimes block supervisor has to pull the paper from the students at the end of examination. This shows the power of intellect over the mind. But same power is not being utilized in our daily life. Those who become able to do this achieves greater heights in the life. One of the best example who has utilized this power of intellect over the mind is our founder secretary of SVERI, Dr. B P Ronge sir. Many times in his speech he has told about how he succeeded to take admission in Government Engg College, Karad. While studying in science Jr. College how his mind desired many things other than study and how his intellect overpowered his mind and he achieved the desired goal.

To utilize this power we require little knowledge and then implementation. Mind creates many desires. Some of the desires are good and some are bad and detrimental. It is in our best interest to reduce the bad desires and to enhance the good one.Wherever the mind has been attached that is the desire that we experience again and again. Everyone is attached to different things. Somebody is attached to the corporate success to the extent that they ignore family life. Somebody is attached to the money or wealth; somebody is attached to the name and fame. When we repeatedly contemplate that there is happiness in any object or the person, it leads to the attachment. Now question comes that why we want happiness? Our old age scriptures say it is because of our very nature that is nature of our being. We all have emanated from an ocean of bliss. That supreme divine entity to which we call God, Bhagwan, Ishwar, and Allah is an infinite ocean of bliss. As we emanated from an ocean of bliss, our very nature is to seek bliss or happiness. That is why we contemplate on object which gives us happiness.

Now how one can utilize this urge to happiness to his own benefit. The answer is given by Ved Vyas in Shrimad Bhagwat. He says that when we repeatedly think there is happiness in the worldly things or objects we develop attachment for that. So we have to repeatedly think that there is happiness in the place where we wish to channelize our desire. Infact Ved Vyas referring to use it to achieve the supreme purpose of human life that is self-realization. But one can use it to achieve the worldly objects also.

So you decide, focus, analyze what is it that you cherish in life that you wish to become, that hold you in high esteem in your intellectual value system and then contemplate sufficiently over it. That contemplation will result naturally in everything. When you develop the intense desire, you will make a determined resolve, when you have a determined resolve you will put intense effort in it. And when you will put intense effort in it you will achieve it.

Till now we allowed our intellect to wonder anywhere. We allowed our intellect to work in unguided manner. Now once we understand this we can guide the intellect and through intellect guide the mind and we can achieve all our higher good desires.
